SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - Fuquan Edwin was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday after posting 21.0 points and 4.0 rebounds to help Seton Hall split its two contests last week. It was the sixth time this season that the senior from Paterson, N.J. garnered the accolade and it was his fourth in the last six weeks.
Edwin delivered back-to-back 21 point performances, beginning with his 9-for-13 (.692) shooting effort in the Pirates 15-point win over Georgetown on Thursday. The 6-foot-6 guard collected five rebounds; he made two steals and sank three 3-pointers to complete the regular-season sweep of the Hoyas.
Then on Sunday, Edwin nearly helped guide the Pirates past #11/#12 Creighton in Omaha, leading The Hall with 21 points to go along with three assists and two steals. He buried all four of his free-throw attempts in the final two minutes to give the Pirates a chance to win on a last second heave. Edwin finished 5-for-6 from the free-throw line in the 72-71 setback to the Bluejays.
Providence guard Bryce Cotton was named Player of the Week and DePaul's Billy Garrett, Jr. earned Rookie of the Week. Edwin was joined on the Honor Roll by Doug McDermott (Creighton), Markel Starks (Georgetown), Jamil Wilson (Marquette) and Ryan Arcidiacono (Villanova).
The Hall returns to action at DePaul tomorrow for FOX Sports 1 BIG EAST Tuesday Showdown. Tip-off is slated for 9 p.m. eastern. Seton Hall's radio broadcast with Gary Cohen and Dave Popkin will air on 970 AM (WNYM).
