The Pirate Blue Athletic Fund held its annual Pirate Blue Golf Outing at Navesink Country Club in Middletown, N.J. on Monday. This outing is a fundraising vehicle for Pirate Blue to generate support for Seton Hall's 14 athletic programs and its student-athletes. This year's outing received overwhelming support by selling out the golf portion and receiving many generous sponsorships.
The best-ball format round of golf was followed by a cocktail reception and dinner. Associate Athletic Director Bryan Felt welcomed all of the attendees and thanked them for their contributions to Pirate Blue. Seton Hall Athletic Director Patrick Lyons was also gracious for the support and helping Pirate Blue set a new fundraising record last year. He took the opportunity to update patrons on the all the facility upgrades going on in Athletics as well. Head women's basketball coach, Anthony Bozzella, and head men's basketball coach, Kevin Willard, were also in attendance to preview the upcoming season.
"The Pirate Blue Golf Outing is personally one of my favorites as it essentially kicks off to another exciting year of Pirate Blue events. We are always thankful for the tremendous support that it generates. We had a record number of golfers turn out and many more who joined us for a wonderful evening," said Director of Athletics Patrick Lyons. "I always look forward to this event, because it gives us the opportunity to share all of the exciting happenings around Seton Hall Athletics with our dedicated supporters before we embark on another academic year."
Peter Christou, Frank Laviano, Matt Strazza and Lou Romano were the day's top golfers. This foursome won the opportunity to represent Seton Hall in the Acura College Alumni Team Championship at Pinehurst Resort, receiving a complementary round of golf along with four days of deluxe accommodations at the event.
Pirate Blue appreciates the support of all who attended the outing and would like to thank the generous sponsors who helped to make this event possible. They include: Outing Sponsor, Torcon, Inc.
