Ronayne, Simpson Headline Day One at West Virginia

MORGANTOWN, W. VA. – The Seton Hall women's swimming and diving team opened a trip to the BIG EAST vs. Big 12 Weekend meet hosted by West Virginia on Friday, joining conference opponents Xavier and Butler at the challenging early season event.
Seven events were held on the first of two days of competition and The Hall compiled a strong collection of times including the top BIG EAST finish in three swimming events as well as the lone event held from the diving board.

- Melody Bush (Guelph, Ontario), Sydney Simpson (Tallahassee, Fla.), Tessa Lindner (Sun Prairie, Wis.) and Kat Carson (Katy, Texas) kicked off the meet by clocking the top BIG EAST time in the 200-medley relay at 1:50.77
- Simpson led 12 conference entrants in the 100 breast with a 1:08.38 mark, finishing just ahead of teammate Courtney McCardle (Hurley, N.Y.) (1:09.51) who took second among BIG EAST swimmers in the event
- Sophomore Kylene Ronayne (Springfield, Pa.) recorded a third-place time of 2:07.71 that doubled as the top showing among conference competitors in the 200-back
- Four-time BIG EAST champion Gabby Signorelli (Massapequa, N.Y.) recorded a score of 236.55 from the one-meter board in her first appearance of the season
- Sophomore Courtney Regan (Southbury, Conn.) was just one-second off the BIG EAST-leading pace set by Xavier's Mackenna Rife with a fourth-place mark of 4:44.09 in the 400-IM
- Ronayne, Carson, McCardle and Lindner entered the final leg of the 400-free relay within .7 seconds of Xavier's top team and finished with a fourth-place time of 3:38.69
