Balanced Effort Leads Pirates Past Providence, 179-83

South Orange, N.J. - Ten different Pirates scored individual race victories as the Seton Hall men's swimming & diving team powered past Providence Saturday in front of a near-capacity crowd at Imperatore Natatorium. Sophomores Lior Grubert (Yehud-Monosson, Israel) and Dakota Williams (Noank, Conn.) each took a pair of individual victories with Grubert adding a third victory in a relay race.
The Hall is now 5-2 in dual meets this season and 2-0 against fellow BIG EAST schools.Â
Grubert started his day by teaming with freshmen Joshua Tosoni (Arnold, Md.), Connor Phillips (Cape Town, South Africa) and Tyler Kauth (Wall, N.J.) to deliver victory in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:35.83. The Pirates had the top three finishing teams in the race. Grubert then narrowly topped teammate Vadim Jacobson (Arnold, Md.) in the 100 backstroke, coming in with a time of 53.37 to Jacobson's 53.49. Grubert then finished up with a 100 butterfly victory, coming at 52.54, again narrowly surpassing fellow Pirate Matt Zebrowski (Sayreville, N.J.).
Williams was very strong in the freestyle events as he took the 50 freestyle in 21.30 and then took the 100 in 46.87. Also during his freestyle leg of the 200 medley relay, he swam a 20.93.
