South Orange, N.J. - The third installment of the Garden State Hardwood Classic between Seton Hall and Rutgers has sold out three days in advance of the encounter between the 9-2 Pirates and the 11-1 Scarlet Knights, the Seton Hall Athletics ticket office announced Tuesday afternoon.
Although it is a sell out, fans can still purchase a select number of day-of-game, $11 tickets at the Prudential Center box office beginning at 11 a.m. These tickets are available on the day of every Pirates home game at Prudential Center, but only available in-person at the box office.
Seton Hall (9-2) is looking for its fourth straight victory in the series and its third straight since the rivalry with Rutgers, which dates back to 1916, was rebranded the Garden State Hardwood Classic in 2014. The winner of the game receives the 33-pound State of New Jersey trophy that was primarily made out of recycled Asbury Park boardwalk planks that were recovered in the rebuilding process that followed Superstorm Sandy.
Seton Hall leads the all-time series, 38-29.
Fans unable to attend the game can watch the nationally televised broadcast on FS1 or listen to Gary Cohen and Dave Popkin's radio call of the contest on AM970 The Answer, simulcast on XM 381 and the Pirate Sports Network, available on SHUPirates.com or the SHU Pirates Mobile App.
