SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. -- Along with the New Jersey Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women and Tri-County Orthopedics, the 31st annual, statewide celebration of "National Girls and Women In Sports Day" was held at Seton Hall on Sunday. High schools, junior colleges and universities around the state has a "Woman of the Year" honored at the luncheon before the honorees were recognized at the women's basketball victory over Butler.

The 2017 NAGWS Honor Award Recipient was Jill Cosse Minnella, West Essex Field Hockey and Girls Lacrosse Coach. West Essex won the Field Hockey Tournament of Champions in 2016. Minnella's coaching record comes out to 701-126-15 and still counting. The Hall's Woman of the Year honoree was softball senior Lauren Fischer (Robbinsville, N.J.).
