SOUTH ORANGE, NJ – The Seton Hall men's and women's soccer teams each received the 2016-17 Team Academic Award presented by the United Soccer Coaches, formerly known as the NSCAA. The organization announced the awards on Thursday (Oct. 5).
The men's soccer program is receiving the award for the first time since 2003. The Pirates have 16 current players that received BIG EAST All-Academic honors in August. The women's soccer team is receiving the award for the second straight year, and the eighth time in program history. The Pirates had 19 players receive BIG EAST All-Academic honors last season.
In order to receive the award, a team must be active members of the United Soccer Coaches Service Program and maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA amongst the team.
With both the men's and women's programs receiving the award, the Pirates are one of 195 programs across all NCAA divisions nationally to have both soccer programs earn the Team Academic Award.
