NEW YORK - Seton Hall men's basketball senior Khadeen Carrington (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll on Tuesday after a strong week that saw him average 20.5 points and set a new program record for most three-pointers made without a miss, the conference office announced Tuesday. In addition, Seton Hall remained at No. 23 in this week's Associated Press top 25 poll.
In Seton Hall's 2-0 week that included wins over Wagner and Manhattan, Carrington averaged 20.5 points, 1.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.0 blocks while shooting a blistering 66.7 percent from the field, 80 percent from three-point range and 81.8 percent from the free throw line. Against Wagner, he scored a season-high 26 points on 8-of-12 shooting and set a Seton Hall record for most three-pointers made without a miss, going 6-for-6. He also had three assists, three rebounds and a ferocious pin-down block from behind. Against Manhattan, he delivered a team-high 15 points on 4-of-6 from the field, 2-of-4 from three and 5-of-6 from the free throw line. He added three steals, two assists and another block.
Carrington is averaging 13.1 points and 3.9 assists a game for a potent Pirates offense that is averaging 80.5 points per contest. He also is tied for the team lead in steals at 14.
For the second straight week and third time this season, the Pirates are ranked No. 23 in the Associated Press top 25 poll. This sets up a "Ranked vs. Ranked" showdown at Prudential Center Thursday when the Pirates host No. 25 Creighton at 6:30 p.m. It's the first time a ranked Seton Hall team will face a fellow ranked opponent since January 21, 2001, when then No. 18 Seton Hall knocked off No. 8 Syracuse at the Meadowlands.
In Seton Hall "Ranked vs. Ranked" home games, the Pirates are 7-4 all-time, including 4-0 when they are the higher-ranked team.
Tickets to the clash, which also serves as the BIG EAST opener for both teams, are available at Ticketmaster.com.
