June 2017 AD Newsletter with Pat Lyons
6/8/2017 12:00:00 PM | AD Newsletter with Bryan Felt
We have reached the end of the 2016-17 athletic season, and I want to congratulate all our student-athletes on another outstanding year. While we use the summer as an opportunity to recharge and strategize for next year, in reality, the 2017-18 season is nearly upon us. In just 55 days, our women's soccer team will report for fall camp and just 17 days after that, it will host Siena in the first regular season match of the year.
We can't wait to begin another exciting year in Seton Hall Athletics!
Congratulations Again to Our Graduates

Since our last newsletter, our senior student-athletes enjoyed commencement exercises at PNC Bank Arts Center to celebrate graduation!
It was a very special day for all our student-athletes. All the study halls, group projects, papers, quizzes and final exams; all the early practices, weight room sessions, late-night games and long travel, they were committed to them all. The culmination of all that effort - walking up on stage and receiving your college diploma - is as gratifying and joyous an experience as they come.
Please take a moment to visit our photo gallery from commencement and please join me again in congratulating all of our graduates.
Congratulations to Our Hall of Fame Class of 2017

Last Thursday was a very special night as we inducted our Hall of Fame Class of 2017 at Maplewood Country Club.
We were blessed to have three members of the 1953 NIT Championship winning men's basketball team in attendance as part of the induction of the entire squad that went 31-2. Henry Cooper, Jack Milani and Arnie Ring were contributors on one of the greatest teams in Seton Hall history, and we were ecstatic that they and their families were able to join us and celebrate the achievements.
We had four individuals also receive induction, and they, too, had tremendous Seton Hall careers. Doug Cinnella led our baseball team to the 1984 NCAA Tournament and once struck out 17 batters in a single game, which is still a Pirates record. Debbie Hartnett is one of our women's basketball program's top all-time scorers and was a three-time All-BIG EAST selection. John Kelly helped build Seton Hall to what it is today with great work as a member of the Board of Regents, and he is one of our men's basketball team's biggest fans with a reputation for having his voice heard by all! And Bryan Spoonire was a 1994 All-American long distance runner and helped our men's track & field team win a BIG EAST Championship in 1993.
Congratulations again to our Class of 2017, which is now immortalized in our Hall of Fame in the Recreation Center lobby.
We have a lot of content related to the Hall of Fame induction ceremony for you to enjoy:
Make a Gift to Pirate Blue Before the End of the Fiscal Year
![]()
With the end of the athletic season also comes the end of the fiscal year, and we are once again approaching another record amount of giving from our loyal Pirate Blue members.
Pirate Blue donors play a critical role in the student-athlete experience here at Seton Hall, and all the academic and athletic success that I include in this newsletter would not be possible without your support.
If you have made your gift to Pirate Blue this year, thank you so much for your generosity. If you have not yet made a gift, I hope that you'll consider making one before the year comes to a close on June 30. Your gifts represent our best hope for providing the funds necessary to help our student-athletes.
You can make your tax-deductible gift online at PirateBlue.com.
