Congratulations to our 2017 Hall of Fame Inductees!
![]()
Today we are proud to announce the newest class of Pirates who will be immortalized in our Hall of Fame, which I think is extra special this year because this is our first induction class since we opened our new Hall of Fame space in the Recreation Center lobby.
This year we are proudly inducting four individuals and one team: Doug Cinella of the baseball team; Debbie Hartnett of the women's basketball team; John Kelly, our honorary inductee and former chairman of the Seton Hall Board of Regents; Bryan Spoonire of the men's track & field team; and the entire 1952-53 men's basketball team that won the National Invitation Tournament championship.
We will induct all of these new Hall of Fame members at our annual Hall of Fame Enshrinement Ceremony, which will take place on Thursday, June 1 at Maplewood Country Club in Maplewood, N.J. I hope that you will consider supporting our new class of inductees by attending and/or sponsoring the event. More information will come from our Pirate Blue office in the coming weeks.
Congratulations to all our inductees, and we hope to see you at Maplewood Country Club for what will be a wonderful evening of celebrating our new inductees.

Our Student-Athletes Continue to Perform in the Classroom
![]()
I may sound like a broken record at this point, but our student-athletes had another incredible semester of academic excellence. We are so very proud of our hard working student-athletes, who produced a 3.352 GPA during the fall and are currently carrying a cumulative GPA of 3.360.
All 14 of our varsity teams have a cumulative GPA over 3.0, and 138 of our 250 student-athletes made the Seton Hall Dean's List in the fall. In addition, 14 of our student-athletes achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA during the fall semester.
Our student-athletes deserve a tremendous amount of credit and praise for being able to balance their studies with their team responsibilities. And I also would like to thank the Academic Support Services staff - Matt Geibel, Amanda DiDonato and Ryan Westman - who all work very hard to aid our student-athletes in reaching their full potential.

Six More Opportunities to Watch Seton Hall Basketball

February is an exciting month for college basketball. It's the stretch run when teams can make a big push towards their NCAA Tournament dreams. Last season, our men's and women's basketball teams combined to go 11-3 in February and both teams ended up in the NCAA Tournament a month later.
Our two basketball programs have six remaining home games in the month of February and it is important to hold serve at home, which is also why it is important to support the student-athletes at our home games and give them a great home court advantage.
Our men's team will be playing its next three home games against nationally ranked opponents and our women's team is celebrating Senior Day on Sunday. Now is the time for you to get out and support! Please consider getting tickets and getting behind the Pirates in the month of February!

Good Luck to Swimming & Diving at the BIG EAST Championship

February is also championship season for our men's and women's swimming & diving teams, and I'm very excited for both teams, who will be in the running for a conference championship. The 2017 BIG EAST Championship takes place Feb. 22-25 at the Nassau Country Aquatic Center in East Meadow, N.Y.
I want to wish all of our swimmers and divers the best of luck. I know they will compete very hard and represent us well.
If you are interested in following along, be sure to watch the swim meet on the BIG EAST Digital Network via FOX Sports GO and periodically check SHUPirates.com for updates and video content.
Honorary Captain Will Cody
![]()
Lastly, I want to take a moment to recognize Will Cody, our men's basketball team's honorary captain at last night's game. If you don't know Will, take a moment to read about him and realize how courageous he has been these last 12 months. I am proud and thankful that we played a role in making Will smile and be a part of a sports team again. He most deservedly earned the game ball from Coach Willard.
GO PIRATES!
