AD Newsletter – July 2017
I hope that you have had a wonderful Fourth of July holiday! As we turn the page on 2016-17 into 2017-18, let me remind you that we are only 43 days away from our first regular season fall match (women's soccer) and we are only 127 days away from our first men's & women's basketball games. Each day that we get closer to game action, I grow more excited to watch our talented student-athletes in action, and I hope you share the same feelings!
Another Record Year in Academic Success

As we close the books on a successful 2016-17 year, we are proud to once again have set a new department record in cumulative grade-point average. This is the seventh consecutive year that our department is ending the school year with record-high marks, and after this past spring, our department GPA stands at an impressive 3.376.
Consider the growth we have made in those seven years:
Those numbers don't just go up magically. It requires our coaches recruiting talented student-athletes and making classwork a priority; it requires our student-athletes managing their time effectively and making a commitment to studying; and it requires the aid of our outstanding academic support staff to help guide our student-athletes along the path towards excellence. As we continue to position our student-athletes for success after graduation, I want to thank everyone involved in helping make this wonderful achievement happen.
Thank You to Our Pirate Blue Members

The 2016-17 fiscal year came to an end last week, and, soon, Pirate Blue will officially announce that the year was another record-breaker in terms of single-year giving. We have raised over $3.1 million, and we cannot thank our faithful Pirate Blue members enough for their support.
While we are excited about the support we have generated, we are also not satisfied. We need to continue upgrading our facilities, enhancing the student-athlete experience and setting them up for success in everything that they do. That starts with Pirate Blue Nation, and I hope that we can continue to grow the support in 2017-18.
Thank you again for all that you do for Seton Hall student-athletes, and, remember, you can make your tax-deductible gift online at PirateBlue.com.
Summer Caravan at Red Bull Arena and Pirate Blue Golf Outing

This year on the Pirate Blue Summer Caravan we are excited to include a Red Bulls soccer game (July 19, 7:30 p.m.) with an opportunity to meet Pirates Hall of Fame legend and RBNY captain Sacha Kljestan. Only the first 100 tickets sold will include the postgame meet-and-greet, so be sure to purchase the tickets for the July 19 match today!
Lastly, if you're an avid golf fan, be sure to sign up for our Aug. 7 Pirate Blue Golf Outing, held at the beautiful Navesink Country Club in Middletown, N.J. Our golf outing is always a fun event that includes lunch, 18 holes, dinner and a silent auction. There are many ways to get involved with the outing, whether it's a foursome or a sponsorship, so be sure to visit our online registration page. Our golf outing sold out fast last year and is expected to sell out again this year, so be sure to act soon. I hope I see you on the links!
