
Men Finish Third at BIG EAST Championship

East Meadow, N.Y. – The Seton Hall men's swimming & diving team had four gold medals this weekend including two from senior Dakota Williams (Noank, Conn.), but the Pirates could not win their third BIG EAST crown in a row, and finished third behind Georgetown and Xavier.
Leading off Saturday night, the Pirates had four in the top-12 of the mile, led by freshman Caleb Smith (Charlottesville, Va.), who finished fifth after swimming a 15:54.11.
Next, Williams won the 100 free for his second BIG EAST title of the year, after clocking in at 44.24.
In the 200 fly, Seton Hall picked up major points as sophomore Liam Cosgrove (Sea Girt, N.J.) earned a silver medal with a time of 1:49.34, followed by freshman Ben Puglessi (Ada, Mich.) in third (1:50.26), and senior Lior Grubert (Yehud-Monosson, Israel) in sixth (1:51.12).
Junior Josh Tosoni registered his first BIG EAST title of the year with a school-record 1:58.72 in the 200 breast. Freshman Thomas Staes finished sixth after clocking in at 2:02.64.
Overall, the Pirates finished with four school records and four gold medals.
