
Pirates Outlasted by Villanova

Newark, N.J. – The Seton Hall women's tennis team dropped a tightly-contested BIG EAST Conference match against Villanova, 4-2, while battling heavy winds all afternoon on Wednesday at the Ivy Hill Tennis Courts.
The Pirates (13-6, 5-2 BIG EAST) once again came away with the doubles point after picking up wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 flights behind the respective duos of senior Thandy Kangwa (Ft. Myers, Fla.) and junior Minja Gligic (Belgrade, Serbia), and juniors Melody Taal (Ede, Netherlands) and Michal Matson (Christchurch, New Zealand).
During singles competition, Villanova (6-7, 1-2 BIG EAST) registered wins at the top two positions, before Taal evened the match score at 2-2 with a 6-0, 6-4 win at the No. 3 flight.
However, the Wildcats edged Seton Hall 7-5 in the clinching sets at both the No. 4 and No. 5 positions to clinch the victory with two more singles wins.
Up next, the Pirates will head to the Midwest for a 3 p.m. match at DePaul on Saturday, April 6 before heading to Marquette for a 9 a.m. BIG EAST match on Sunday to conclude the regular season.
