
Fajnorova, Pitts Earn All-BIG EAST Honors

NEW YORK – Senior Anicka Fajnorova (Bratislava, Slovakia) and freshman Regina Pitts (Los Angeles, Calif.) were named to the women's tennis All-BIG EAST Conference Second Team on Wednesday afternoon.
The duo was a staple for the Pirates all season at the top doubles flight, earning a record of 15-7 together, including a 7-1 mark in BIG EAST play, and a 6-2 win over St. John's in the BIG EAST Tournament against the BIG EAST Player of the Year, Jessica Livianu.
Pitts and Fajnorova also led the Pirates to a win over St. John's earlier in the season, the program's first win over the Johnnies in 15 years.
Playing at the No. 1 singles position for the entirety of her final campaign, Fajnorova finished with a 17-10 record overall, and was named BIG EAST Player of the Week on March 27 after completing a combined 6-0 individual weekend against Butler, Providence and Fairleigh Dickinson.
In her first collegiate season, Pitts shined at the No. 2 singles flight, and posted an overall record of 19-8. On March 15, she defeated All-BIG EAST First Team selection, Sophia Abelson of Xavier, 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 2 singles spot.
