South Orange, N.J. - Seton Hall men's & women's swimming & diving head coach Derek Sapp has announced the hiring of Sean Piacente as the program's new diving coach. Piacente comes to The Hall after an excellent diving career at East Carolina and Rowan.
Piacente was an All-American diver at Rowan, where he finished 12th in the 3-meter at the 2018 NCAA Div. III Championship to earn honorable mention status. The NCAA finish was the cap to an outstanding senior year that saw him earn New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Diver of the Year honors and win the Metropolitan Championship in the 1-meter and 3-meter dives. He graduated as the school and the NJAC's record holder for 3-meter dive.
Prior to attending Rowan, Piacente had an outstanding year diving at East Carolina, where he established himself as one of the program's top divers. He is still sixth all-time in program history in the three-meter dive with a score of 316.25 at the 2013 Conference USA Championship and fourth all-time in platform diving with a score of 230.95 at the same meet.
Piacente has previous coaching experience at the High Dive Champion Dive Club, where he was an assistant coach and helped plan, prepare and execute effective coaching programs.
