
Pirates Finish Strong at Berkeley Tri-Meet

New Providence, N.J. - The Pirates completed the two day Berkeley Aquatics Tri-Meet beating BIG EAST rival Providence 277-64 while falling to Georgetown 195-155.
Helping to lead the Pirates was sophomore Ben LaClair (Belchertown, Mass.). LaClair took first in both the 100 and 200 free on Day Two after taking first in the 200 free relay and second in the 500 free on Day One. In the 100 free, LaClair touched the wall in a time of 46.66 while taking the 200 free in a time of 1:42.20.
Freshman Justin Oosterwyk (Pequannock, N.J.) was also an individual winner for the Pirates on Saturday afternoon. Oosterwyk took home first in the 200 fly with a time of 1:52.60.
Also earning individual wins for The Hall was Liam Cosgrove (Sea Girt, N.J.) in the 100 fly with a time of 51.38 and Caleb Smith (Charlottesville, Va.) in the 1000 free with a time of 9:57.02
Fellow freshman Ross Pantano (Bennington, Neb.) also swam a solid Day Two with three second-place finishes. Pantano managed to secure second in the 200 medley relay, 100 back and 200 back. Pantano completed both the 100 and 200 back with times of 50.70 and 152.50, respectively.
This was the final tune-up for the Pirates before they go on to compete in the BIG EAST Championship on Long Island, N.Y. at the Nassau Aquatic Center from Feb. 26-29.
