Dear Pirate Nation,
Â
I hope that this email finds you and your families safe and well. As we approach the end of the month, I wish that we were talking about tennis and golf competing at the BIG EAST Championship; I wish we were discussing baseball and softball's great runs in conference play; I wish we were still re-living memorable postseason runs in men's & women's basketball.
Â
We are not currently able to talk about any of those things, but we are able to talk about our student-athletes showing incredible resiliency, adapting to remote learning and still finding ways to achieve. Our student-athletes are able to thrive in any scenario thrown at them, and I'm proud of the way they are handling this unprecedented situation.
Â
We are hoping that we can get back to normalcy very soon. And when we do, we will be excited to continue talking about all the great accomplishments we will do on the course/court/field/pool once more.
Â
Â

Â
We know times are tough. But we also know that we have an incredible group of Seton Hall fans, alumni and supporters who care deeply for this athletics department and its student-athletes. As we have said throughout this month, we are faced with a difficult financial situation caused by this pandemic. And as we strive to provide our student-athletes the best support to allow them to reach their academic and athletic potential, we need help. On Seton Hall Day of Caring, we once again were overwhelmed by Pirate Blue Nation's generosity; we set a goal of $100,000 and exceeded it.
Â
On behalf of our student-athletes, I can't thank everyone enough for their generous support. It means the world to know that we have so many wonderful people in our corner believing in our mission and what we aim to accomplish.
Â

Â
Next week marks the end of the spring semester, and it will mark the final classes for our 61 graduating seniors. Although this pandemic has significantly altered what the final days of a Seton Hall senior's career should include, what doesn't change is that we should celebrate reaching this significant milestone in their young lives. They are about to become college graduates, and as many of you understand, it's not easy balancing athletics with academics. Yet, we have a very talented group of seniors who have excelled in the classroom and in athletic competition, and we are excited to see what lies next for them.
Â
Some of them already have jobs lined up; some will go to graduate school; some will turn professional in their sport. No matter what they do, we are so proud of what they've accomplished here at Seton Hall, and we are thankful that they shared a part of their lives with us.
Â

Â
For the last five weeks, we have been connecting with our student-athletes and the rest of our University community through remote learning videos in our Pirate Wellness series that lives on our social media channels. We've put out 21 episodes and hosted six live #TeamworkTuesday workouts, all aimed to engage and provide a little bit of normalcy for our student-athletes who miss interacting with our staff and coaches on campus.
Â
I'd like to thank all of our contributors to the series. We've received tremendous feedback, and it's a great example of how much our community cares about our student-athletes and their well-being.
Â
Since we posted all of these videos on social media, we invite you to enjoy them as well. You can see all of them on one page in our SHUAthletics Twitter Moments.

Â
Last week, we sent out a social media message asking Pirates fans to Hoist the Colors! In difficult times like these, it's important to remember that we can get through this together. Gathering photos of our alumni, fans and supporters donning their Pirate Blue gear is a great way of remembering all the good times we've had and all the good times in our future.
Â
Above I've featured four photos, and I'll continue to share some more photos in subsequent newsletters, so keep them coming! Tag our social media accounts @SHUAthletics so that we get them!
