A Message from Director of Athletics & Recreation Bryan Felt

Dear Alumni, Fans and Pirate Blue Supporters,
Â
I hope you and your families are all doing well during these unprecedented times. As we navigate through the COVID-19 pandemic, we want to share an update from Seton Hall Athletics.
This is a severe and rapidly changing issue that has affected everyone worldwide. Our focus continues to be on the health and safety of Seton Hall University, our Athletic Department and our local community. I want you to know that all Seton Hall Athletics employees are working tirelessly to support our student-athletes and maintain the day-to-day operations of our entire department during these challenging times.
Reflecting on the disappointment of our student-athletes since the NCAA and BIG EAST Conference prudently cancelled all championships and spring seasons has been a very emotional time. I feel for our programs and student-athletes who will not have the opportunity to complete their seasons and compete for championships this spring. Now more than ever we need to lean on the strength of our relationships, and come together as a community to support each other as we all try to understand and get through this difficult time without the sports that we love.
Â
While competition has been cancelled, fortunately, thanks to the swift and hard work of our University and academic staffs, we are able to maintain our student-athletes' academic pursuits. All of our student-athletes are continuing their semester through remote learning and will be able to complete the spring semester. We have made considerable adjustments to our daily operations and have been focused on coming up with new ways to stay connected with our student-athletes, alumni, and fans. We hope you have been able to follow along through our emails and social media. Â
Our student-athletes, staff members and I have received many messages of encouragement from fans and supporters with several of them asking how they can help our program at this time. On behalf of our department, I thank you for your compassion and willingness to support. This pandemic has affected many student-athletes and will continue to affect them moving forward into next year. Due to the NCAA cutting the national distributions to member institutions, and with the NCAA passing legislation to grant spring sport student-athletes a waiver to gain back a year of eligibility, there is a greater financial need on our athletics department to continue providing the best student-athlete experience. During these times we ask that if you have the means, please consider an online contribution to the Pirate Blue Athletic Fund to directly support our student-athletes in these extraordinary times of need.
These are unprecedented times, and we need to continue to support each other. Take care of yourselves and each other. We will all get through this, as long as we work together like we know how: as a team!
Thank you for all of your support and GO PIRATES!
