South Orange, N.J. - Seton Hall men's basketball head coach Kevin Willard has announced that Tray Jackson (Detroit, Mich.) has signed a grant-in-aid offer to transfer to the Pirates. Jackson, a 6-8 forward who spent his freshman year attending Missouri, will sit out the 2020-21 season and have three years of eligibility beginning in 2021-22.
Â
"We'd like to welcome Tray and his family to the Seton Hall basketball family," Willard said. " Tray is very versatile on offense and will give us a lot of different options. He is strong and can get to the basket, and he is a very capable three-point shooter. We're looking forward to working with him on continuing his development and preparing him to compete for us in 2021."
Â
Jackson, a consensus four-star and ESPN top-100 recruit, appeared in 26 games at Missouri during his freshman season. Jackson provided a strong spark off the bench for the Tigers on many occasions, including seven games of scoring six points or more. His best performance came against Tennessee on Jan. 7, 2020, when he scored 11 points on 3-of-5 shooting in just nine minutes of action.
Â
Jackson was outstanding in high school and on the AAU circuit throughout his career. He was named All-State Class A honorable mention after his senior year at Detroit Western International. While playing for Team Meanstreets, he averaged 13.3 points and 5.0 rebounds on the Nike EYBL circuit and then averaged 12.2 points a game at the 2018 Peach Jam.
Â
Jackson will look to add to Seton Hall's outstanding recent history of accepting transfers who further develop with the Pirates into major BIG EAST contributors. This includes recent senior transfers Quincy McKnight, an All-BIG EAST honorable mention and first-team All-Met selection who led the conference in assists, and Romaro Gill, the 2020 BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year and Most Improved Player. Seton Hall also recently added graduate transfer Bryce Aiken, an All-Ivy League performer who will play for the Pirates in 2020-21.
