El Khalifi Wins Second Straight Match, Pirates Fall to St. John's

New Providence, N.J. - Sophomore Hiba El Khalifi extended her singles winning streak to two with a victory at No. 4 singles, but the Seton Hall women's tennis team lost a BIG EAST match to St. John's, 6-1, Friday night at Murray Hill Tennis & Fitness.

El Khalifi, who also won at Drexel last week, won her match with Oceane Garibal in exciting fashion. After each player split the first two sets, El Khalifi captured the tiebreaker, 11-9, and the win.

Freshman Oliwia Kempinski had a strong showing. She teamed with classmate Emily O'Donovan to push Camila Ordonez and Gabriela Tenorio to a tiebreaker at No. 3 doubles. She then recovered from a tough first set to push Willa Bay Breunich to a tiebreaker at No. 6 singles.

The Pirates will take the court again on Thursday, March 25 when they host Wagner at the Courts at Ivy Hill Park on campus.
