
Pirates Round Out Scheduled Dual Meets, Compete at Georgetown

WASHINGTON – The Seton Hall men's swimming and diving team fell to BIG EAST rival Georgetown on the road on Saturday inside McCarthy Pool by a score of 195-105. For the Pirates, Gideon Langenbusch (Oberhausen, Germany), Gennarino Conzemius (Bethel Park, Pa.), Thomas Minar (Oxford, Conn.) and Quinn Murtha (Cumming, Ga.) picked up individual first-place finishes.
The Pirates started the afternoon with a second-place finish in the 200 Medley Relay as the team of Ross Pantano (Bennington, Neb.), Justen Lopez (Levittown, N.Y.), Ji Ho Lee (Charlotte, N.C.) and Minar combined to touch the wall in a time of 1:33.39. Next up, it was Sean Vizzard (Mount Laurel, N.J.) with a second-place finish in the 1000 Free. The freshman touched the wall in 9:34.93, just over four seconds behind the first-place finishing Hoya.
In the 200 Free, Langenbusch was the first to touch the wall, doing so in a time of 1:42.70. Placing third for the Pirates was Ben LaClair (Belchertown, Mass.) who finished in 1:44.01. Picking up a second-place finish for the Pirates in the 100 Back was Pantano. The junior swam a time of 50.22 enroute to his second, second-place finish of the afternoon.
The Hall would pick up a one-two finish in the 100 Breaststroke as Conzemius and Lopez took the top two spots, respectively. Conzemius finished in a time of 58.25 while Lopez touched the wall in 58.92. Conor Dunne (Hinsdale, Ill.) would go on to take third in the 200 Fly with a time of 2:03.27.
Minar was the fastest in the pool for the 50 Free, taking first in the event with a time of 21.14. The junior would make it two events in a row with a first-place finish, this time taking the 100 Free in a swim of 46.83. Pantano would add another second-place finish doing so with a time of 1:50.91 in the 200 Back.
In the 100 Fly, Ben Puglessi (Ada, Mich.) was the second swimmer to touch the wall as he finished up the event with a time of 52.62. The Hall would close the day strong with a second-place finish in the 400 Free Relay. The team of Langenbusch, Minar, Pantano and LaClair touched the wall in a time of 3:05.88.
On the boards, Murtha took first in the 1M Dive with a score of 315.90 to edge out the top Hoya diver in the event by three points.
The Pirates will have some time off before competing in BIG EAST Championships next month from Feb. 23-26 at the Nassau Aquatic Center in East Meadow, N.Y.
