
Klimaszewski Sets 100 Fly Record on Day Two at WVU

Morgantown, W. Va. – Michael Klimaszewski (London, England) took down the school record in the 100 Fly as the Pirates wrapped up Day Two at the WVU Invite on Friday night.
The freshman touched the wall with a time of 47.32, besting the previous record set by Liam Cosgrove in 2021. The time was good enough for a second-place finish in the event.
Klimaszewski was part of another second place finish on the night for the Pirates, as he was a member of the of the 200 Medley Relay team. He along with Ross Pantano (Bennington, Neb.), Ben Endersby (Caldwell, N.J.) and Thomas Minar (Oxford, Conn.) finished the race in 1:29.70.
Kevin Cary (West Chester, Pa.) continued his strong week in Morgantown, taking third place in the finals of the 200 Free. The freshman completed the race with a time of 1:38.45, a new season-best for the Pirates. Another individual third place finish went to Pantano, who claimed that spot in the 100 Back with a time of 49.28.
The 800 Free Relay capped off the night and saw the Pirates claim a third place finish. Cary, Gideon Langenbusch (Oberhausen, Germany), Clil Halevi (Kafar Hadranim, Israel) and Ben LaClair (Belchertown, Mass.) posted a time of 6:41.93 in the event.
Day Three of the WVU Invite is on Saturday, featuring the finals of the 200 Back, 100 Free, 1650 Free, 200 Breast, 200 Fly, 400 Free Relay, as well as the team and platform diving.
