Morgantown, W. Va. – The Pirates wrapped up their weekend at the WVU Invite on Saturday night, finishing the event in third place overall out of 12 schools. Michael Klimaszewski (London, England) set his second school record in as many nights.
Klimaszewski, who set the top school time in the 100 Fly on Friday night, set a new mark in the 200 Fly. His time of 1:46.27 was good enough for both a first place finish in the even as well as an NCAA "B" cut time. Just behind him in second was Justin Oosterwyk (Pequannock, N.J.), touching the wall in 1:48.80.
In the 200 Back, Ross Pantano (Bennington, Neb.) swam a season-best time en route to a fifth place finish in the finals. Pantano finished the race with a time of 1:49.45, besting his previous season top time by nearly three seconds.
The 400 Free Relay capped off the invitational, with the Pirates taking third in the event. Klimaszewski, Gideon Langenbusch (Oberhausen, Germany), Ben LaClair (Belchertown, Mass.) and Kevin Cary (West Chester, Pa.) combined to touch the wall in 3:00.14.
The Pirates have some time off before competing next against Lehigh on Jan. 13 at Arthur E. Imperatore Natatorium.
