Morgantown, W. Va. – The Pirates finished up their weekend at the WVU Invite on Saturday night, as the team finished in sixth place out of 16 teams on the weekend overall. Two more school records fell on Saturday night.
The first of those new program marks was set by Natalie Heim (Middletown, N.J.), who took down the school record in the 100 Free. Her time of 50.61 narrowly bested her own record of 50.73, which was set at the Patriot Invitational in November of 2021.
Later in the night, Heim would swim the anchor leg of the 400 Free Relay quartet which captured the program record. Lea Moeller (New Lenox, Ill.), Leiya Istambouli (Danbury, Conn.), Cornelia Jerresand (Taeby, Sweden) and Heim combined to touch the wall in 3:22.76, good enough for a second place finish.
Overall on the weekend, the women set five new school records. The 200 Free Relay team set a new program mark earlier this weekend, a race in which Moeller set a new program best time in the 50 Free.
The Pirates have some time off before competing next against Lehigh on Jan. 13 at Arthur E. Imperatore Natatorium.
