
Pirates Produce A Sweep Over Binghamton, 7-0

New Providence, N.J. - The Seton Hall women's tennis team enjoyed great success in its match against Binghamton, winning all three doubles and all six singles while losing no more than four games in any one set, resulting in a 7-0 victory over the Bearcats, Friday night at Murray Hill Tennis & Fitness.
The win gives the Pirates their fourth in their last five matches with an overall record of 4-2.
Over three doubles matches, Seton Hall lost only three games. Junior Arina Gumerova and freshman Arabella Moen continued to show great chemistry at No. 1 doubles, sweeping Caterina Casadei and Maria Pereira, 6-0, for their fourth doubles win over the last five matches. Senior Chloe Hamlin and freshman Hili Kronzon paired up for the first time this season and dispatched Abby Ackroyd and Lara Kaplan at No. 2 doubles, 6-3. Sophomores Oliwia Kempinski and Emily O'Donovan picked up their first doubles win of the spring as a pairing with a 6-0 sweep of Kelly Chen and Brielle DeRoberts at No. 3 doubles.
In singles, the Pirates dominated with a combined score of 72-19. Gumerova cruised to a win over Kaplan to improve to 12-6 overall and 3-2 in the spring. Moen, making her first appearance at No. 2 singles, pitched a shutout over Casadei, 6-0, 6-0, to improve to 4-2 in the spring.
Junior Hiba El Khalifi remains undefeated in the spring, improving to 2-0 with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Maria Pereira at No. 3. Kronzon has now won two singles matches in a row after beating Abby Ackroyd at No. 4, 6-2, 6-2. Kempinski has now won four of her last five singles matches, beating Kelly Chen at No. 5, 6-1, 6-2. O'Donovan improved to 3-1 on the spring season after taking care of Brielle DeRoberts, 6-0, 6-2.
Seton Hall heads towards the beach Saturday afternoon, taking on Monmouth in Little Silver, N.J., at 4 p.m.
