Pirates Battle Creighton, Fall in BIG EAST First Round

Cayce, S.C. - Junior Aina Plana Ventosa won at No. 3 singles for her first-ever BIG EAST Championship win, but the Seton Hall women's tennis team came up short in its BIG EAST first round matchup against Creighton, falling to the Bluejays, 4-1, Thursday morning at Cayce Tennis & Fitness Center.

Plana Ventosa defeated Creighton's Sarah Wilcox, 6-4, 6-2, to become the first Pirate to win a singles match at BIG EAST since Luize Strike in 2018.

The Pirates were closing in on a second singles win when Creighton clinched. Junior Arina Gumerova was leading Kate Krueger, 6-1, 5-4, at the time that play stopped.
