South Orange, N.J. – The Pirate Blue Athletic Fund's 10th annual Donor Matching Day, which rallies Seton Hall alumni, fans, faculty, and staff together in support of Pirates student-athletes, was held April 27-28 and proved to be an overwhelming success as constituents continue to invest in the lives of excelling young men and women who represent the University. In conjunction with Seton Hall University's Giving Day initiative, Pirate Blue enjoyed record fundraising in receiving over $350,000 from 500+ donors.
This year's Donor Matching Day fundraising represents a 48 percent increase and surpasses the previous record of $236,000 set in 2019.
"Thank you, Pirate Blue Nation, for an incredible outpouring of support for our student-athletes," Seton Hall Director of Athletics Bryan Felt said. "Our supporters rallying on Donor Matching Day is a direct reflection of the excitement surrounding our athletics department right now. We have an incredible group of young men and women working hard to compete in academics and athletics, and we strive to give them the best possible experience so that they're ready to tackle the world after graduation. Please know that we greatly appreciate every single donation because each gift is an investment in our student-athletes' lives."
Donor Matching Day's 50-state challenge once again brought #PirateBlueNation together as Seton Hall supporters across the country gave in support of the Pirates. Once Pirate Blue secured the final state, Minnesota, in the 6 p.m., hour, the successful challenge triggered a $50,000 gift from an anonymous donor.Â
Â
Pirate Blue was also thankful to receive various challenge gifts from our loyal supporters:Â
Shaheen Holloway '00, who returned home to his alma mater after being named the Pirates head men's basketball coach on March 30, matched all gifts on Donor Matching Day by 10 percent in honor of his uniform number when he was a student-athlete at The Hall from 1996-2000.
