
Pirates End 12th Straight Year With Record-High GPA

South Orange, N.J. – Seton Hall student-athletes are some of the best and the brightest in the nation, and for a 12th consecutive year, Seton Hall Athletics is concluding the academic year with a record-high cumulative grade point average. After Spring 2022, Seton Hall student-athletes have combined for a 3.506 cumulative GPA, which improves upon the 3.491 the department had after Spring 2021. All 14 varsity programs concluded 2021-22 with cumulative GPAs above 3.0.

The continued ascent in the department's grades now dates back to the end of the 2010-11 academic year, when the department's cumulative GPA was at 3.174.

In addition, 154 student-athletes made the Seton Hall Dean's List during the Spring 2022 semester, representing 53 percent of the student-athlete population. To achieve Dean's List designation, students must have a 3.4 GPA or higher during the semester.

All 14 programs currently boast cumulative GPAs above 3.0 with women's golf at the top of the department at 3.802. Men's soccer has the highest GPA among the male sports at 3.591. In total, eight of Seton Hall's 14 teams have a cumulative GPA above 3.50.

Seton Hall's teams combined to post a 3.480 GPA in the 2021-22 academic year with women's golf again leading all with a 3.814 GPA and men's soccer leading the male sports at 3.506.

In the Spring 2022 semester, the Pirates combined for a 3.517 semester GPA with women's golf leading all teams at 3.875 and men's soccer leading all the male teams at 3.577.

Men's basketball, the department's highest-profile team with seven consecutive finishes in the top-half of the BIG EAST and NCAA bids in six of the last seven tournaments played, continues to boast a strong academic profile as it completed its seventh straight academic year with a cumulative GPA over 3.0, currently standing at 3.052.

Women's basketball, which played into April with its fantastic run to the WNIT championship game, also finished the academic year with a cumulative GPA above 3.0, sitting at 3.183 and sported a 3.344 GPA in the Spring 2022 semester.

Men's golf, which this spring won its first BIG EAST championship since 2000, also excelled with a cumulative GPA at 3.432, third-highest among the male teams.

Seton Hall Athletics continues to be a leader and developer of the best and brightest in the nation. Annually, over 85 percent of the department's student-athletes achieve at least a 3.0 GPA in the classroom and receive numerous honors and accolades in support of their achievements. Seton Hall supports its student-athletes with outstanding mentoring and tutoring, led by the Academic Support Services staff, and offers its student-athletes a state-of-the-art learning environment in the Charles W. Doehler Academic Center for Excellence, which consists of a main study area, group meeting spaces and private tutoring rooms.
