
Over 80 Percent of Student-Athletes Named BIG EAST All-Academic

NEW YORK - Over 80 percent of Seton Hall student-athletes have been named to the BIG EAST All-Academic team for posting a 3.0 grade-point average or higher during the 2021-22 academic season, the conference office announced Thursday. In total, 235 Pirates were named to the team.
Nominations for the All-Academic Team are submitted by each of the BIG EAST's 11 member schools and five affiliate institutions. To be eligible for the honor, a nominee must have competed in a BIG EAST-sponsored sport, attained a minimum grade-point average of 3.00 for the preceding academic year, and completed a minimum of two consecutive semesters or three consecutive quarters of academic work, with a total of 18 semester or 27 quarter credits, not including remedial courses.
Seton Hall student-athletes continue to excel in the classroom at a record pace. The department has ended each of the last 12 academic years with a new record-high cumulative GPA. At the end of 2021-22, student-athletes have combined for a 3.506 GPA, becoming Seton Hall's first cohort to pass the 3.5 threshold. In addition:
