NOTES YOU NEED TO KNOW
- The Seton Hall men's basketball team will play its fourth road game in its last six contests on Tuesday as the Pirates head to Georgetown for an 8:30 PM game on FS1.
- The Hall has played four of the top five games in the BIG EAST through six games in league play with three of those contests coming on the road at Xavier (Dec. 20), at Marquette (Dec. 27) and at Creighton (Jan. 3).
- Seton Hall has won two of its last three games and its coming off of a 76-51 win over Butler at Prudential Center on Saturday night.
- Seton Hall held Butler to 26.8 shooting from the field and only 15 field goals made.
- That is the lowest shooting percentage allowed and field goals allowed by a Pirates team in a BIG EAST Conference game since holding Georgetown to 26.5 percent shooting from the field and only 13 field goals made (13-for-49) on Feb. 28, 2004, a 75-48 Seton Hall win at the Meadowlands.
- The Pirates are 9-1 this season when they hold their opponents to under 70 points.
- Seton Hall ranks second in the BIG EAST in scoring defense (64.4 ppg), field goal percentage defense (40.3 pct) and three-point field goal defense (28.7 pct).
- The Pirates' defense from beyond the arc ranks 19th in the country.
- The Pirates rank 27th in KenPom's adjusted defensive efficiency.
- In Holloway's last 28 games as a head coach, his teams have allowed just 62 points per game and only eight opponents have scored more than 70 points.
- Graduate student KC Ndefo (Elmont, N.Y.) is the NCAA's active career leader in blocks with 348.
- After starting the season off slow from a blocks standpoint, Ndefo now leads the BIG EAST and ranks 17th in the country with 38 total blocks.
- The Hall is 141-22 (.865) since 2015-16 when its lead gets to seven points.
- Through six BIG EAST games, junior Kadary Richmond (Brooklyn, N.Y.) is averaging 14.7 points on 51 percent shooting from the floor, 5.8 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game.
- Richmond ranks in the top 15 in the BIG EAST in scoring (13th), assists (sixth) and steals (13th, 1.5 spg) against conference opponents.
- Richmond has dished out at least five assists in five of the last six games.
- Richmond nearly had a triple-double in the win over Butler on Saturday with 11 points, eight rebounds and nine assists.
- Richmond is one of only two Pirates since 2010 to register at least 10 points, eight rebounds and nine assists in a game, joining Angel Delgado who tallied 12 points, 16 rebounds and nine assists vs. Marquette in the BIG EAST Tournament on March 10, 2017.
- Richmond was high school teammates with junior Femi Odukale (Brooklyn, N.Y.) at South Shore High School in Brooklyn.
- In five BIG EAST games, Odukale is averaging 8.6 points on 6-of-12 shooting from three-point range, five rebounds, two assists and 1.8 steals per game.
- Senior Tray Jackson (Detroit, Mich.) leads the BIG EAST in three-point shooting in conference play (min. 10 3PA) as he's connected on 7-of-10 from deep through six league games.
- Senior Tyrese Samuel (Montreal, Quebec) is averaging 13.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game while shooting 65 percent from the floor over the last five games.
- The Pirates look to generate offense at the free throw line and they rank 16th in the country in free throw attempts per game (24.1 FTA pg) and rank 26th nationally in free throw makes per contest (16.3 FTM pg).
- The Pirates lead the BIG EAST in bench points, averaging 25.1 points per game.
