Indianapolis, Ind. – Michael Klimaszewski (London, England) defended his BIG EAST title in the 100 Butterfly and broke his own school record as the Pirates wrapped up the third day of competition at the BIG EAST Championships.
Klimaszewski won the race in a time of 46.47 to surpass his championship-winning time of 46.82 from last season's BIG EAST meet. The sophomore's time was also good enough to earn an NCAA "B" cut.
Klimaszewski's win was one of several top-three finishes on the night for Seton Hall. Kevin Cary (West Chester, Pa.) would soon follow with the bronze medal in the 200 Freestyle, finishing with a time of 1:38.17. Fellow Pirate Gideon Langenbusch took home a fifth-place time of 1:38.62 in the event.
In one of the tighter races of the week so far, Nick Rhodes (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) battled to a second-place finish in the 100 Back. The freshman earned his first medal with a time of 48.89. Rhodes would also open the 400 Medley Relay for Seton Hall, helping the Pirates earn a second-place time of 3:15.26 alongside Ben Endersby (Caldwell, N.J.), Klimaszewski and Cary. Endersby also reached an individual "A" final on Friday, placing seventh in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 57.71.
Through three days of competition, the Pirates sit in third place overall with 383.5 points. Georgetown maintains a lead with 550.5 points.
