Indianapolis, Ind. – Sean Vizzard (Mount Laurel, N.J.) earned gold in the 1650 Free and the Pirates picked up a trio of silver medal finishes on the final night of the BIG EAST Swimming and Diving Championships at IU Natatorium on Saturday night.
Vizzard's winning effort led off the night for The Hall, as the junior won the mile at the BIG EAST Championships for the second time in three years. His time of 15:06.95 surpassed his own school record of 15:08.48 from his gold medal swim from two years ago. It also earned Vizzard an NCAA "B" cut time.
Coming in right behind Vizzard was Clil Halevi (Kafar Hadranim, Israel), who also earned an NCAA "B" cut time by touching the wall in 15:10.40.
The Pirates would pick up two more second-place times on the night. In the 200 Fly, Michael Klimaszewski (London, England) battled in a tight race with Xavier's Aiden Leamer. Klimaszewski finished in second with a time of 1:45.73, earning him an NCAA "B" cut. Justin Oosterwyk (Pequannock, N.J.) also qualified for the Championship Final in the event, finishing in sixth place with a time of 1:48.65 in the final swim of his career.
Klimaszewski would go on to swim the anchor leg of the 400 Free Relay to conclude the meet, which saw the Pirates take second place. Toma Adam (Bacau, Romania), Gideon Langenbusch (Oberhausen, Germany) and Kevin Cary (West Chester, Pa.) swam the three legs prior to Klimaszewski, with the group combining for a time of 2:58.42.
Two more Pirates worked their way into "A" finals on the night. Adam took fifth place in the 100 Free finals with a time of 44.85. Nick Rhodes (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) also earned a fifth-place finish on the night, completing the 200 Back in a time of 1:49.42.
