South Orange, N.J. - Three members of Seton Hall basketball lore will be recognized as legends in 2025-26 as part of the Pirates Legends Series, presented by Route 22 Honda. Earning legend status this season are women's basketball's Dana Wynne and men's basketball's Jerry Walker and Greg Tynes.
Wynne, Seton Hall women's basketball's double-double queen, will be recognized at the Dec. 14 game against Auburn that tips off at 1 p.m. Walker, the heart and soul of the men's basketball program of the early 1990s, will be honored at the Dec. 23 game against Villanova (7 p.m.). Tynes, Seton Hall's scoring king of the 1970s, will be recognized at the Jan. 17 noon game against Butler.
Tickets to the Dec. 14 women's game are available by calling the ticket office at 973-275-4255. Tickets to the Dec. 23 and Jan. 17 men's games are available through Ticketmaster.
Instituted in 2024-25, the Pirates Legends Series was created to re-introduce Seton Hall fans to the basketball legends who helped shape Seton Hall into the great basketball school it is today. Inaugural legends that were recognized last year were Dan Callandrillo, Mark Bryant and Jodi Brooks.
Wynne was a dominant force in the paint for some of the best teams in Seton Hall history. She graduated in 1997 as the program's all-time leader in rebounds (1,265), rebounding average (11.3) and free throws made (391) as well as fourth in points (1,622), fifth in field goals made (614) and third in blocks (138). Nearly 30 years later, no one has come close to her rebounding records. In 1995-96, she led the nation in rebounding (12.8) and double-doubles (23). She was a four-time All-BIG EAST honoree and helped the Pirates to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances in 1994 and 1995, including a Sweet Sixteen run in 1994.
Walker's three seasons at Seton Hall were during the golden age of Pirates basketball that featured two BIG EAST regular season championships (1992 & 1993) and two tournament titles (1991 & 1993) and trips to the Elite Eight (1991) and Sweet Sixteen (1992), and Walker was at the forefront. At the time, he was only the 17th Pirate to score 1,00 career points, and he did it only three seasons. He finished with 1,075 points and 630 rebounds and graduated with the program's second highest field goal percentage (.530) at the time. He was a two-time All-BIG EAST selection and the 1993 BIG East Defensive Player of the Year.
Tynes was a flat-out scorer in the 1970s while playing for Bill Raftery's Pirates in the late 1970s. He finished his career second in program history with 2,059 points, which still ranks fifth today, and he did it without the benefit of the three-point line. He also finished his career fifth in scoring average (18.7) and sixth in assists (379). He was an All-America honorable mention and the New Jersey Player of the Year in 1978. He helped the Pirates to a winning record in all four of his seasons and postseason tournaments three times.
