After narrowly missing the 400 medley relay record last night, the Pirates entered the 200 medley relay knowing they had a shot to challenge that record, as well. After Chris Jackson's opening leg, Jaeger Ellerman, Michael Klimaszewski and Toma Adam closed the relay with blistering pace. In the end, every second mattered for the Pirates' lineup. Not only did they finish third with a time of 1:27.55, but the four-man squad took down the school record by 0.04 seconds.
While the Pirates owned no one in the 400 IM A final, freshman Daniel Krajewski put on a show in the B final of the event. After battling through the opening 200 yards, Krajewski split a sublime 1:07 breaststroke leg to gain enough ground to win the heat with a career-best time of 3:58.12.
Coming off the medley relay, Klimaszewski entered the 100 butterfly as the top seed. The reigning BIG EAST Champion in the event was in for a battle with Delaware's Kyle Snyder in the former's signature event. Despite an even first 50 yards, the the Brit would have to settle for second with a time of 46.98.
In another champion's signature event, Kevin Cary looked to potentially claim The Hall's first win of the meet in the 200 freestyle. Unfortunately for him, a trio of other swimmers put up a great challenge, pushing him down to fourth place with a season-best mark of 1:37.41. Jack Callan and Adam would finish second and fourth in the B final, logging times of 1:38.38 and 1:39.24, respectively. McLeod would wrap the same final with a time of 1:41.53.
Off the back of breaking the relay record, Ellerman stepped behind the blocks for the A-final in the 100 breaststroke. While the freshman did not beat his prelims time, he came home not far off it with a time of 54.83.
In the 100 backstroke, Balint Marosi led the way for the Pirates' with a second-place finish and a time of 48.26. Behind him in the A final, Jackson came home with a time of 49.58. In the B final, the two Duong twins finished in 14th and 15th place, separated by one-one one-hundredth of a second, 50.69 for Kale and 50.70 for Kaedin.
After their individual swims, Klimaszewski, Marosi, Callan and Cary came together to compete in the 800 freestyle relay. Despite a strong opening leg, the gap slightly grew lap after lap, resulting the Pirates finishing second in the event with a season-best time of 6:32.97
