Emmitsburg, Md. - The Seton Hall women's tennis team picked up singles wins from Anastasia Sereda, Isabelle May, Ellie Coe and Arabella Moen to defeat Mount St. Mary's, 4-2, Saturday afternoon at Mount St. Mary's Tennis Courts.
The Pirates continued to play well away from home, earning their sixth road win of the season, most in a season in over a decade.
"Rachel [Benoualid], Bella and Hili did a great job this weekend stepping up and getting some key wins this weekend overall," said head coach James Enzler. "It's very easy in a sport like tennis to become selfish due to the independent nature of the game. These girls did a great job stepping up when called on and played well."
The Pirates did not earn the doubles point despite the nice 6-1 win from Rachel Benoualid and Hili Kronzon in the No. 2 position, but the Pirates quickly rebounded with smooth first-set wins at Nos. 1, 3 and 6 to set the tone. Sereda tied up the team score with her win at No. 1 over Venus Tang, 6-2, 6-3. Then The Hall took the lead when May topped Kaajal Ramisetty, 6-0, 6-4, to improve to 12-2 in spring singles.
Seton Hall took a commanding 3-1 lead when Moen finished off Valentine Mudry, 6-3, 6-2, and then clinched the 4-2 win with Coe knocking off Amari O'Brien at the No. 4 spot, 6-2, 6-4.
The Pirates are back on the road next weekend with a pair of BIG EAST matches at Xavier and Butler, Friday and Saturday, respectively.
