Cayce, S.C. - The Seton Hall women's tennis team pushed top-seeded UConn to the limit, battling valiantly in a 4-2 defeat to the Huskies in the quarterfinals of the 2025 BIG EAST Championship Friday morning at Cayce Tennis & Fitness Center.
Seton Hall's season comes to a close with a 12-12 dual match record and the program's first conference tournament win since 2017.
The Pirates dropped the doubles point to the Huskies in a close battle, but the Pirates then took a 2-1 lead after singles wins by Anastasia Sereda at No. 1 and Arabella Moen at No. 6. Sereda, who topped Olivia Wright in straight sets, won a tournament match for the second year in a row. Moen, who topped Caroline Hinshaw in straight sets, was the only Pirate to win both a first-round and a quarterfinal singles match.
UConn took a 3-2 lead with singles wins at No. 2 and No. 4, but the Pirates still had a chance to win as No. 3 and No. 5 went to a third set, but the top-seeded Huskies ultimately prevailed.
