Student-athlete GPA stands at 3.545
South Orange, N.J. – Following another successful semester in the classroom, Seton Hall student-athletes have once again reached a mark no cohort of Pirates has reached before. The Fall 2025 grades have been calculated, and the department currently boasts a record-best 3.545 grade point average (GPA), and all 14 varsity programs are above 3.20.
The new record-high GPA reinforces Seton Hall's position as a developer of some of the brightest student-athletes in the country. The cumulative GPA has significantly risen over the last 14 years, from 3.174 at the end of 2011 to today's 3.545. The department cumulative GPA has been above 3.40 since 2018.
Additionally, 158 student-athletes made the Seton Hall Dean's List during the Fall 2025 semester, representing approximately 63 percent of the student-athlete population. To achieve Dean's List designation, students must have a 3.40 GPA or higher during the semester.
"Seton Hall student-athletes are incredibly bright and dedicated to making the grade in the classroom, and it is truly inspiring to see how year after year, the student-athletes that we recruit to this great University can raise the bar for academic success," said Seton Hall Director of Athletics Bryan Felt. "Congratulations to all our student-athletes for the work they put in, and to our coaches and support staff for helping put them in a position to succeed."
All 14 programs currently boast cumulative GPAs above 3.20 with women's golf team at the top of the department at 3.788. Men's cross country has the highest GPA among the male sports at 3.725. In total, eight of Seton Hall's 14 teams have a cumulative GPA above 3.50.
In the Fall 2025 semester, the Pirates combined for a 3.554 semester GPA with women's golf leading all teams at 3.807 and men's cross country leading all the male teams at 3.787.
Men's basketball, which has surged back into BIG EAST and NCAA contention with one of its best 16-game starts in program history, continues its upward trajectory in academics. The team has a 3.375 cumulative GPA, up from 3.320 at the end of 2024-25. The program's Fall 2025 GPA was 3.205.
Women's basketball, which has a top-50 profile and is battling for positioning near the top of the BIG EAST standings, also continues to show its academic strength. The program has a 3.456 cumulative GPA and a 3.336 GPA in Fall 2025.
Men's soccer, which has developed five CSC Academic All-American selections since 2020 and earned an NCAA Tournament at-large bid in 2025, has the second-highest men's cumulative GPA at 3.702. Just last month, Sam Bjork was named a CSC second-team Academic All-American, his second career Academic All-America honor, and Agustin Resch was named CSC third-team Academic All-American.
Seton Hall Athletics continues to be a leader and developer of the best and brightest in the nation. Annually, over 85 percent of the department's student-athletes achieve at least a 3.0 GPA in the classroom and receive numerous honors and accolades in support of their achievements. Seton Hall supports its student-athletes with outstanding mentoring and tutoring, led by the Academic Support Services staff, and offers its student-athletes a state-of-the-art learning environment in the Charles W.
