AD Newsletter – August 2016
As we enter August, we here at Seton Hall are ready for the fall and kick off the 2016-17 year! On Tuesday, our first team, women’s soccer, reported for camp, and our men’s soccer, volleyball and cross country teams are on the way. This is a very exciting time for us as we welcome our newcomers, who have the privilege of experiencing Seton Hall Athletics for the first time and most of whom are experiencing college life for the first time, and welcome back our returnees, who are all eager for another year of competing both in the classroom and on the field.
I wish all of our student-athletes and coaches good health and good luck as they begin the grind!
An Outstanding Day at the Pirate Blue Golf Outing
On Monday, we hosted our annual Pirate Blue Golf Outing at Navesink Country Club, and it was a terrific success as we sold out the golf portion of our day with over 120 golfers. Then we enjoyed a fantastic cocktail hour and dinner and held a silent auction. It was wonderful to see so many of our Pirate Blue supporters at the event and give them an update on our exciting developments and achievements.
I’d like to give a special thank you to all of our sponsors and our Pirate Blue staff who worked very hard to make this a great day for everyone. I’m already looking forward to the 2017 outing!
We are off to a great start to the 2016-17 year and coming off an outstanding 2015-16 season thanks to your support. As mentioned in last month’s newsletter, Pirate Blue has established a new annual fundraising record, surpassing $2.5 million, which is a reflection on how much you care for our student-athletes and the experience they receive here at Seton Hall.
We hope to continue setting records this year! If you are able to contribute to enhance the student-athlete experience at Seton Hall, you can make your tax-deductible gift now.

Congratulations to our BIG EAST All-Academic Team members

Over 80 percent of our student-athletes posted a 3.0 GPA or higher during the 2015-16 academic year. To be exact, 203 Pirates student-athletes, and they were all honored as members of the 2015-16 BIG EAST All-Academic team last week.
I can’t help but continue to boast about how committed our student-athletes are to their studies as they plan for their futures. I can’t thank them enough for being terrific ambassadors for our University, and I can’t thank our coaches and support staff enough for doing all that they do behind the scenes to ensure we are recruiting and developing the best and the brightest.

The Latest Rec Center Construction Update:

We are hitting the home stretch of our renovation of the Richie Regan Athletics & Recreation Center lobby, which includes the installation of our new Hall of Fame. The beauty of this Hall of Fame is that not only are we able to celebrate our more than 220 inductees, but also we also get to honors teams with significant achievements in our past.
One of the photos above shows our Champions of the BIG EAST exhibit which features some of the teams and student-athletes who made a major impact at Seton Hall during the BIG EAST era (since 1979).
We look forward to the final product once construction is complete, and we cannot wait to share it with you all. Stay tuned for information on a grand opening.
Welcome to the New SHUPirates.com

Our newly re-designed website launched this week, and we are excited to partner with SIDEARM Sports on this endeavor. SIDEARM is a growing leader in the collegiate athletics industry, and we are committed to delivering information and content about our student-athletes and coaches to our fans in the best way possible.
We are also excited because this year with SIDEARM we are able to offer live events on the Pirate Sports Network for FREE. We enjoy promoting our student-athletes and all that they do, and we want fans, parents, alumni and others to watch them compete as often as they can. Our new platform allows that, and we hope you’ll watch beginning Aug. 28 with our men’s soccer team’s home match against Stony Brook.
Please note that this also includes the simulcast of our men’s basketball radio broadcasts!

Basketball Non-Conference Schedules and Season Ticket Information
Our 2016-17 men’s basketball & women’s basketball non-conference schedules are now available at SHUPirates.com, and we are excited that basketball is less than 100 days away! I can’t wait to see all of you at Walsh Gymnasium on Friday, Nov. 11 as our women’s team plays Savannah State at 11 a.m., and our men’s team takes on Fairleigh Dickinson in the evening (time TBD).
The best way to enjoy Seton Hall Basketball is to become a season ticket holder. We offer affordable, family-friendly fun for everyone, and our season ticket holders receive the best value for their loyalty and support. Season ticket holders receive the best seats, get priority access to BIG EAST Tournament tickets, receive special invitations to private events and receive access to other events taking place at Prudential Center.
Our student-athletes thrive on our fans coming to games and supporting them, which is why it is so important that you come so that you can make Walsh Gymnasium and Prudential Center the home court advantage they need to be successful!
If you were a season ticket holder last season and have not yet renewed, now’s the time as we want to make sure you can retain your seats. The deadline to renew and pay in full is Aug. 31. You can renew online now by visiting your Ticketmaster account manager. Your login information is located on your renewal invoice.
For fans who have not yet invested in season tickets, we have season ticket plans for everyone whether you're an alumnus, young alumni, faculty/staff member, parent, or a current student.
