Edward A. Blankmeyer

Edward Blankmeyer was the starting second baseman for Seton Hall on its back-to-back College World Series teams in 1975–76, serving as team captain in 1976. An All-Metropolitan selection as a sophomore, he sported a .413 batting average, which ranked 18th in the nation and is still in the top 10 of single-season batting averages at The Hall. At the time of his induction, he held the record for most walks in a career with 116. In addition, his six hits during the College World Series is tied for the Seton Hall record. Blankmeyer was selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the 1976 MLB Amateur Draft and played one year of pro baseball. He has since gone on to become a successful collegiate baseball coach, first as an assistant at Seton Hall, then as the head coach at St. John’s.
