Maurice “Mo” Vaughn

Maurice Vaughn was one of the most prolific hitters in Seton Hall history, bursting onto the scene as a freshman in 1987 when he hit .429 and slugged 28 home runs, which set a new school single-season record and ranked second in the nation, en route to All-America, All-BIG EAST and BIG EAST Rookie of the Year honors. He was named MVP of the BIG EAST Championship after hitting .500 with seven runs and seven RBI in leading the Pirates to the conference title. A three-time All-BIG EAST selection and the 1988 BIG EAST Player of the Year, he ended his Hall career a .416 hitter with a school record 57 home runs and 218 RBI. Selected 23rd overall by the Boston Red Sox in the first round of the 1989 MLB Amateur Draft, Vaughn hit 328 career home runs in 12 Major League seasons. A three-time All-Star, he was named the 1995 American League MVP after hitting .300 with 39 home runs and 126 RBI.
