MEN'S BASKETBALL (2-2)
The men's basketball team defeated Drexel 83-70 on Wednesday
(Nov. 18) at the Continental Airlines Arena to improve its record to 2-2
overall.
Junior tri-captain Shaheen Holloway (Queens, NY) led the Pirates
with a game-high 18 points and 10 assists. Senior tri-captain Duane
Jordan (New York, NY) added 17 points and eight rebounds, while junior
Rimas Kaukenas, (Vilnius, Lithuania) who returned to the line-up after
missing one game due to an injured knee, scored 14 pointsincluding a perfect
8-of-8 from the free throw lineand pulled down nine rebounds. Junior
Gary Saunders (New York, NY) added 12 points, five rebounds and five assists,
and freshman center Charles Manga (Cameroon, Africa) chipped in eight points
and nine rebounds.
NEXT FOR SETON HALL: The Pirates travel to Minnesota from a game against the Golden Gophers on Tuesday (Nov. 24), game time is 8:00 p.m. Seton Hall returns home to host Kean University on Sunday (Nov. 29) at Walsh Gym. Game time is 7:30 p.m.

The women's basketball team split two home games last week losing its home opener, 82-81, to Richmond and defeating Monmouth University, 77-62. The Pirates also dropped an 81-48 decision at Penn State to finish the week with a record of 1-2.
On Tuesday (Nov. 17) the Pirates opened the 1998-99 season with the one-point loss to Richmond at Walsh Gym. Juniors Yolanda Rouse (Clewiston, FL) and Erika Ashmon (Montezuma, GA) scored 16 points apiece to lead the Pirates. Junior Starr Fuller (Boston, MA) had 13 points and six rebounds while classmate Arminda Moreno (Telde, Canary Islands) had 12 points and six rebounds. Freshman Toronda Hayes (Columbus, OH) came off the bench to chip in six points and eight rebounds.
On Thursday (Nov. 19), the Pirates picked up their first win of the season, defeating intra-state rival Monmouth, 77-62. Moreno's 25 points led all scorers, and she also chipped in four rebounds and five steals. Fuller notched a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds. Ashmon and Hayes came off the bench to score nine and eight points, respectively.
The Pirates dropped an 81-48 decision at Penn State on Sunday (Nov. 8). Fuller and Hayes led the Pirate scorers with 11 points apiece.
NEXT FOR SETON HALL: Seton Hall hosts the Pals/Mayfair Farms Tournament beginning Friday (Nov. 27) when the Pirates take on Howard at 6:00 p.m. The second game of the set will feature Bowling Green and George Washington at 8:00 p.m. The consolation and championship games will take place on Saturday (Nov. 28) with the consolation game at 2:00 p.m., with the championship game following.

The wrestling team participated at the Keystone Classic this afternoon, hosted by the University of Pennsylvania. The Pirates' A squad finished seventh with 43 points, while the B squad placed 11th with 16.5 points. Arizona State won the meet with 165.5 points, while UPenn took second with 137.5 points and Rider rounded out the top three with 134.
For Seton Hall, sophomore Mike Settembrino (Lyndhurst, NJ) advanced the semi-finals of the Championship bracket at 133 pounds, before falling to Arizona State's Eric Larkin. Settembrino then took second in the consolation bracket by beating Virginia's Jason Bernd and falling to the eventual champion Arturo Anaya of Arizona State B. Other Seton Hall wrestlers who advanced included senior John Perna (Belleville, NJ), who defeated ASU's Glenn Pero in the opening round at 149 pounds and then defeated UVA's John Pozniak to advance to the semi-finals. Senior Joe Pichetto (Oradell, NJ) advanced to the semi-finals at 174 pounds, as did junior Everett Bell (East Rutherford, NJ). Senior Marc Bautis (Lyndhurst, NJ) took fifth in the consolation bracket at 197 pounds, falling to Richie Moutoux of Virginia in the battle for fourth place.
NEXT FOR THE PIRATES: The Pirates return to action on Tuesday, November 24, then they host Army in their first home meet of the season. The time of the meet has been changed to 8:00 p.m.
