Dittel, Serafin Lead Men's Soccer Past Villanova, 3-1

With the win, Seton Hall ends its regular season at 11-6 overall and 6-5 in BIG EAST play. The Pirates have won seven of their last eight games.
Seton Hall, which is assured of a spot in the eight-team conference tournament, will play its quarterfinal match on the road against an opponent to be determined. The Pirates will be seeded either fifth or sixth. Villanova falls to 5-9-2 overall and 2-7-2 in the BIG EAST.
Seton Hall never trailed as junior midfielder Luke Serafin (Piscataway, NJ) scored off a rebound of a header by junior forward Greg Strohmann (Wehrheim, Germany) at the 12:36 mark.
The Pirates increased their lead to 2-0 when Dittel took a pass through the middle from sophomore Alim Ibragimov (Wayne, NJ), dribbled into the penalty area and beat Villanova goalkeeper John Williams from 15 yards at the 74:34 mark.
Villanova managed to trim the lead to 2-1 just six minutes later (80:59). Freshman midfielder Dan Massimini (Downingtown, PA) beat Seton Hall goalkeeper Alex McDonald (Seven Valleys, PA) from the right side with a shot to the lower left corner.
Dittel added an insurance goal with just 1:04 left (88:56) when he scored off a cross from Strohmann.
Seton Hall, which held a 26-12 advantage in shots, received two saves from Alex McDonald. John Williams made six stops for Villanova.
