BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) (Mar. 17) -- Shaheen Holloway drove the length of the floor and banked in a shot with 1.9 seconds left in overtime to give Seton Hall a 72-71 victory over Oregon on March 17 in a first-round East Regional game.
The last two of Holloway's game-high 27 points propelled the 10th-seeded Pirates (21-9) into the second round against the winner of the Temple-Lafayette game played later.
Seventh-seeded Oregon (22-8), making only its second appearance in the tournament since 1961, appeared to have won when Frederick Jones hit two free throws with 8.7 seconds. But Holloway took the ball in and dribbled through the entire Oregon team for his game-winner.
A.D. Smith led Oregon with 17 points and Alex Scales had 16.
Reserves Bryan Bracey and Anthony Norwood combined for 17 points in the final 9:01 of regulation to rally the Ducks from a 10-point deficit.
Tied at 64 after regulation, the lead changed six times in overtime.
