Golf Moves Up to 16th Place at NCAA East Regional

WILLIAMSBURG, VA - Eugene Smith (Glen Ridge, NJ) and Brian McGowan(Cresskill, NJ) each shot below-par scores to help Seton Hall move up into a tie for 16th place after two rounds at the NCAA Golf East Regional at Golden Horseshoe in Williamsburg, VA.
The Pirates' two-day total is 586, after they posted a four-under par score of 284 on the day, bettering their first round total of 302. East Tennessee State leads the field with a total of 552, which is 24-under par.
Smith, a senior, shot a four-under-par 68 in the second round to move into a tie for 42nd place with a two-day total of 143. McGowan shot a 69, three-under par, to tie for 52nd place with his two-day score of 144. Jay Allaghi (Franklin Lakes, NJ) is tied for 77th place as he shot an even-par 72 today, and owns a total of 148. Justin Van Hyning (Bordentown, NJ) is in a tie for 105th place, with a 152.
Play continues tomorrow in the regional. The top 10 teams advance to the NCAA Championships, May 30- June 2 at Durham, NC.
