Jessica King Named BIG EAST Volleyball Player of the Week

Junior Jessica King had 39 kills, 5.57 per game, in the Pirates' two wins last week.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Seton Hall junior Jessica King (Midland, Ontario) was named the BIG EAST Volleyball Player of the Week it was announced by the league office on Monday. King earns the award for her stellar play in the Pirates’ wins over South Florida and Georgetown on Friday and Sunday of last week. In those matches, King had 39 kills, 5.57 per game, and an attacking percentage of .407.

For King, this marks the first time she has won the BIG EAST Player of the Week honor, and she is the only Pirate to win the award this season. King was twice named to the conference’s weekly honor roll this year.

Against South Florida, King set a new career-high in kills, with 22, hitting .419 for the match. She also tallied three digs and four blocks in the win. King followed up her career-day by once again leading the Pirates in kills, totaling 17 against Georgetown.

King ended the season as Seton Hall’s kills leader, with 320, also leading the Pirates in kills per game, 3.48. She also had 70 digs and 68 total blocks. King’s total kills, kills per game and digs are all new personal single-season bests.
