Golf Finishes 11th at Rutgers Invitational

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Sophomore Kyle Morris (Powell, Ohio) led the Seton Hall golf team to an 11th place finish in the Rutgers Invitational at the Rutgers University Golf Course on Saturday. The tournament was the team’s first for the 2005-06 season. Morris finished tied for 7th, with a three round score of +2 214 (74-69-71). The Pirates shot +40 892 (305-294-293) as a team.
This marks the second straight year that Morris opened the year by leading the Pirates. He shot +12 154 (80-74) at the Navy Fall Classic last September, finishing in a tie for 53rd.
Freshman John Zur was Seton Hall’s second lowest finisher, finishing in a tie for 25th, shooting +7 220 (75-69-76). Senior Dean Gultula (Haskell, N.J.) shot +13 226 (78-74-74), good for a 48th place finish, sophomore Rich Brazeau (Portsmouth, N.H.) came in 61st, shooting +19 323 (78-87-72), and senior Mike Byland (Kelowna, British Columbia) was the 69th place finisher, with a score of +31 244 (79-83-82).
Columbia won the tournament, shooting an even-par 852 over the three days.
Seton Hall will return to action next Friday, Sept. 23, when it travels to Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale, N.Y., to play in the 2005 McLaughlin Tournament.
