The Seton Hall men's and women's basketball teams will kick off their 2006-07 seasons on Thursday, Oct. 19, when Geico presents "Midnight Madness" in association with The Princeton Review. The evening's festivities will kick-off at 7:00 p.m. in Walsh Gymnasium. Tickets for "Midnight Madness" are available from Noon-1:00 p.m. every day this week in the cafeteria.
The evening will feature several promotions for students to participate in and will also give Seton Hall students the first chance to see the 2006-07 men's and women's basketball teams. Students will have the chance to participate in several promotions, including the "Frozen T-Shirt" contest for a week's worth of ice cream from Coldstone Creamery, as well as a chance to take a half-court shot for free books. The first 1,000 students will receive free "Gonzone" t-shirts, while Subway is giving away free sandwich slices from 6:45-7:00 p.m.
Other highlights of the evening include the Power 105.1 Street Team, the New Jersy Nets Kids Dancers, an Aeropostale t-shirt toss and the winner of the SHUFLY contest will be announced.
The event is put on to introduce the students to this season's teams, which are poised to compete against one of the toughest schedules in the country in the BIG EAST Conference. Head coach Phyllis Mangina is leading the women's basketball team for the 22nd season and returns all five starters from last season's team. The men's basketball team is entering its first season under head coach Bobby Gonzalez and is coming off an appearance in last season's NCAA Tournament.
Students can pick up tickets for the event in the cafeteria from Noon-1:00 p.m., while they are still available this week.
Season tickets are also available and can be purchased by calling (973) 275-HALL, or by stopping by the cafeteria during the month October at the following times: Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 1:00-3:00 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday from 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
