LOUISVILLE, Ky.- The Seton Hall volleyball team lost its fourth straight conference match, falling to Louisville 3-0 (30-17, 30-23, 30-17). The Pirates are now 13-11 overall and 2-6 in the BIG EAST. The Cardinals improved to 14-6 overall and 7-1 in the BIG EAST on the season.
Freshman Allie Matters (North Tonowanda, N.Y.) led the way for the Pirates, posting 15 kills and 13 digs. Sophomore Brittany Rahrer (Fort Wayne, Ind.) had 34 assists, and sophomore Breanna Leisner (Bloomington, Ill.) registered 10 kills.
In game two, Seton Hall led 13-12, but a Cardinal kill tied it at 13 and Louisville pulled away from there, winning 30-23. The Pirates started off strong in game three, taking an 8-7 lead. The Cardinals came back to tie the game at 14 and went on a 7-1 run to go up 21-15, forcing a Pirate timeout. Seton Hall only scored two more points in the game as Louisville won 30-17 to end the match.
The Pirates return home to Walsh Gym on Saturday, Oct. 28 at noon, when they face West Virginia in a BIG EAST contest.
