Kyle Morris Wins George Washington Golf Invitational

Sophomore Kyle Morris won the George Washington Invitational with a two-round score of four under par.

BETHANY BEACH, Del. - Seton Hall sophomore Kyle Morris (Powell, Ohio) shot a four-under par 140 (68-72) to take first place in the George Washington Invitational at the Bear Trap Dunes Golf Course over the weekend. With Morris leading the way, the Pirates finished the 25-team event tied for 12th place (299 313 - 612), with a team score of 36 over par.

For Morris, it was the first win of his career and the first tournament victory for any Seton Hall golfer this season. Morris finished three strokes ahead of his closest competitor; George Washington's Brian Carroll placed second, with a one over par 143 (70-73).

Sophomore Rich Brazeau (Portsmouth, N.H.) was the Pirates' second-best finisher, placing in a tie for 60th with a +11 155 (75-80). Freshman John Zur (Glenview, Ill.) finished tied for 85th with a +14 158 (75-83).

SHU's opening round 299 left the team in fifth place after one day of competition, only seven strokes out of first. However, the team score of 313 on the Sunday dropped the squad into the tie for 12th. Four players shot a 78 or higher on the second day of action.

The Seton Hall men's golf team will return to action this Friday, Mar. 31, when they travel to Greenville, N.C., to compete in the three round Bradford Creek Intercollegiate at the Bradford Creek Golf Club.
