Men's Golf Places 12th at BIG EAST Championships

DADE CITY, Fla. – The Seton Hall men’s golf team finished in 12th place in the BIG EAST Championships at the Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club on Tuesday. The Pirates completed the two-day, 54-hole event with a team score of +54 918 (311-299-308). Seton Hall’s top finisher was sophomore Kyle Morris (Powell, Ohio), who finished tied for 31st shooting a seven-over par 223 (75-75-73).

Notre Dame won the team title, topping Louisville in a sudden death playoff. Both schools finished the three-round tournament at 22-under par, but the Irish’s Josh Sandman sunk a birdie putt on the first playoff hole to give Notre Dame the win. Louisville’s Derek Fathauer took the individual title finishing the tournament at 14-under par.

SHU began the third round in 12th place and was just 11 strokes behind 10th place Rutgers and Georgetown. However, the team shot a 20-over third round score of 308 and remained in last place.

The Pirates’ had two players tie for 51st, sophomore Rich Brazeau (Portsmouth, N.H.) and freshman John Zur (Glenview, Ill.). Both shot a 15-over par 231. Also competing for Seton Hall was senior Michael Byland (Kelowna, British Columbia), who finished tied for 58th with a +21 237 (77-78-82), and senior Dean Gultula (Haskell, N.J.), who placed 60th with a +26 242 (86-76-80).
